Child Snatchers: A Day at the Fair
This session delves into ITN Productions' recent Channel 5 documentary: Child Snatchers: A Day at the Fair, focusing on the disappearances of Mark Tyldesley, Jason Swift and Barry Lewis in the 1980s. The two part documentary uncovers the sinister crimes of a gang led by Sidney Cooke, responsible for kidnapping, abusing, and killing young boys. In the session, insight from lead investigator David Bright and journalist Ramsay Smith will help break down the complex web of crimes and subsequent convictions. Talking with Serial Killers
At CrimeCon, renowned criminologist Christopher Berry-Dee and forensic psychiatrist Dr. Sohom Das engage in a compelling session delving into the minds of serial killers. Berry-Dee, famed for his interviews with notorious criminals, shares chilling insights and firsthand accounts, while Dr. Das offers expert analysis on the psychological profiles and motivations behind these heinous acts. Together, they dissect infamous cases and explore the intersection of mental illness and criminality. This gripping discussion not only unravels the complexities of serial killers but also emphasizes the importance of understanding their psyche to prevent future crimes.
Join host of the hit podcast Body Bags, Joseph Scott Morgan as he talks with renowned Forensic Scientist, Jo Millington - it promises to be a fascinating insight into the world of forensics and blood spatter.
Joanna Simpson was brutally killed by BA pilot Robert Brown on October 31, 2010. One week before their divorce would be finalized at the High Court, Brown dropped the two children home. He took a claw hammer with him and bludgeoned Jo to death, hitting her at least 14 times. At Brown’s trial, the court heard how he bundled the children into his car and wrapped Jo’s body in plastic sheeting he had brought with him along with a white overall suit. He placed her in the boot before driving to Windsor Park where he had already dug a grave and put down a makeshift coffin.
After nearly 15 hours of deliberation, the jury cleared Brown of murder. He was convicted for manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility and sentenced to 26 years. After 13 years he came up for automatic release in November 2023.

Terry Potter, now a dedicated recovery worker specialising in substance misuse, once led a life steeped in crime. His journey from small-time drug dealer to major player in drug importation and fraud ended with a lengthy prison sentence. Now, Terry uses his past to educate and inspire change. In conversation with Dr. Honor Doro Townshend, criminologist and true crime expert, they will explore the importance of integrating lived experiences in criminal justice reform, highlighting how Terry's transformation offers valuable insights into the realities and rehabilitation of offenders.

Over 20 years, Dena Thompson, known as ‘The Black Widow’, carried out a sustained campaign of fraud, deception, bigamy and murder. Using Lonely Hearts columns to lure a succession of husbands and dozens of lovers into her life, she was able to coerce them into giving up their life’s savings, their homes, their families and their freedom based on her bizarre but convincing stories. To unpack this shocking true story, our panel will feature the mother of the murdered victim, two detectives who worked on the case and the series director.

Forensic ecology requires the scientist to have a wide background in many of the ‘ologies’ in natural science as well as being a specialist in one or more subject. This will give a broad picture of the various facets of forensic ecology and show how the discipline can be used to catch killers and other offenders.
Patricia will explain how plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms, can provide trace evidence, give timings for various events (including post mortem interval), and help to find where people and items are hidden and/or buried. The basic background information will then be followed by the description and explanation of actual cases where the natural sciences have been successful in helping to convict offenders and demonstrating innocence.

Laura Richards chats with special guests Zoe Dronfield, survivor, author & data expert & Hetti Nanton-Barkworth, Chair of Refuge as well as John Clough MBE who has spearheaded the serial perpetrator campaign with Laura and Zoe Dronfield following the murder of his daughter, Jane Clough.

Killers: Caught on Camera – a premiere screening presented by TRUE CRIME
In Texas, panicked husband Christopher Jones calls 911 on Valentine’s Day. He tells the police he got into a fight with his wife Olivia and accidently shot her, while trying to stop her committing suicide. After noticing several surveillance cameras in the house whilst searching it, the police gathers the footage for clues. The critical moment of the shooting is missing, but the other footage tells a different story.
With recent advances in forensics and investigative techniques, is the serial killer dead? The 1970s through to the 1990s witnessed an upsurge in serial killers active here in the UK and abroad, notably the US. But as science and the study of criminology has exploded, are we now seeing the demise of the serial killer?

The Hunt for the Chameleon Killer – live screening presented by TRUE CRIME
In July 1990, when a headless and handless body is found in an irrigation canal in rural Florida, two hours north of Miami, police launch an investigation to identify the victim. As they hunt the killer, the search leads them to around the world before the trail goes cold. Then, the police receive a mysterious postcard. On the front, a picture of an oil painting of a woman. On the back a simple message: Best wishes… Your Chameleon.” Who was this killer? And how did she become the world's most wanted woman?

Crime World - In Conversation With Tony Sales and Lennox Rodgers
This live recording of Crime World podcast, hosted by Clodagh Meaney welcomes Tony Sales, a former fraudster turned cybersecurity expert and Lennox Rodgers, reformed gang member and CEO of the Refocus Project. The session will dive into Sales' and Rodgers' notorious past and their transformation and rehabilitation.
In July 2024, infamous double child killer Colin Pitchfork once again be faced the parole board having served a life sentence given in 1988, and parole actually granted in the last year but later reversed. Can a murderer ever truly be rehabilitated? Will they always pose a danger to society? What consideration should be given to the victim and their family? This questions answers exactly that.
During this session, Nicola Tallant and Carl Chinn will discuss the complex issues surrounding gang culture, poverty, and violence. Dead in the Water
In July 1978, two bodies were discovered in the sea off Guatemala. They were found to be the remains of Chris Farmer and his girlfriend Peta Frampton, two young British graduates - for nearly forty years, no one was charged with these brutal murders. During this Platinum only session, we meet Chris's sister Penny, who will share her family’s four-decade long search for justice and how they finally tracked down Chris and Peta's killer as documented in her book ‘Dead in the Water’ & the amazon prime series of the same name.
We at Alpha Canine Specialists work very closely with a number of the countries Police Services/Forces, but especially close with the capital’s Police Service on its Engagement and Enforcement initiative. The operation has seen dedicate resources engage with the local community and work with partnership organisations such as ourselves to crackdown on both the supply and use of controlled substances. We have deployed across North London with teams on high profile operations. At CrimeCon this year we will demonstrate how we work with the them to detect crime using the noses of our detection dogs. We will show the training and how our four legged partners detect controlled substances and indicate their presence to us.

Madison McGhee's father was murdered in his home in 2002. She was a young child at the time and only recently discovered the true nature of how he died. This has led her on a journey to discover, why he was murdered and by whom, which she shares in her podcast, Ice Cold Case. In his policing career, Steve Keogh investigated many murders, searching for the same answers in each case. In this live podcast, Steve seeks to bring his experience to Madison's case, to see if he can help her get closer to the answers she seeks.

For the Love of Julie - presented by TRUE CRIME
Ann Ming MBE shares the amazing personal story of her 17-year-long intensive fight to bring justice to her daughter Julie, who was killed in County Durham in 1989. Ann’s determination resulted in a change to a 800-year-old law on double jeopardy and saw Julie’s killer become the first person tried under the new law and found guilty.
