CrimeCon has invited key figures of the media to join a live panel discussion at the event to explore how media ensure responsible reporting and uphold journalistic integrity whilst being mindful of the potential consequences of their coverage on ongoing true crime cases.

Their murders struck fear into the heart of this close-knit community. Once Upon a Crime x Minds of Madness - The case of "Mee Kuen (Deborah) Chong"
Jemma Mitchell, a 38-year-old woman, killed Mee Kuen Chong, a 67-year-old friend, at Chong's home in London. Mitchell decapitated Chong and placed her body in a suitcase, which she later dumped in Salcombe, Devon. Mitchell forged a will to gain financial benefits and named herself and her mother as beneficiaries of Chong's estate. She had a history of boasting about human dissection skills online and denied any involvement in the murder. CCTV footage showed Mitchell carrying the suitcase and a bag from Chong's home. Holidaymakers found Chong's headless remains, and her skull was discovered later.
On October 21st, after seven hours of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict in the trial of Jemma Mitchell. Guilty of murder.
The following day marked a significant moment in legal history as Jemma's sentencing was broadcast live on television, making her the first person in England and Wales to have their murder sentence televised.
As well, it was the first time a woman's sentencing was televised in the United Kingdom. The gravity of the situation and the unprecedented nature of the broadcast only added to the intensity surrounding Jemma's case.
