Anne Redding is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the School of Justice Studies at Santa Barbara City College. Her teaching career began at Rio Hondo Police Academy in Whittier, CA after graduating from their Academy as a City of Los Angeles Park Ranger. From there, she taught Conservation Law Enforcement at Unity College in Unity, Maine. Two very cold years later she became the Criminal Justice Department Chair at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA before finding her forever teaching home at SBCC. Redding was introduced to the unsolved Black Dahlia murder as an undergrad in Los Angeles and spent the next thirty years researching the case. Redding’s research focuses on the victimology of Elizabeth Short as well as a study of the characteristics of lust murder. Redding has built a reputation both as an expert on the Black Dahlia case and an energetic and engaging lecturer. She lives in Ventura County with her partner and their very spoiled dog.
