John Sweeney

John Sweeney is a writer and a reporter, old school. John was a war reporter at The Observer for 12 years before joining the BBC where he worked Panorama and Newsnight.


He’s door-stepped Vladimir Putin, challenged Donald Trump about his connections to the mob – Trump walked away from him - reported undercover from Zimbabwe and North Korea and lost his temper with the Church of Scientology. He’s won lots of prizes including the first Paul Foot Award for helping clear the names of three innocent mothers wrongly imprisoned for killing their children.


Some of his most memorable moments on the BBC included Scientology and Me, Fake Sheikh Exposed and Trump, The Kremlin Candidate. He’s written 12 books including the best-selling novel, Elephant Moon.

John spends his time between London and Italy and is currently writing and recording a series of True Crime Podcasts for Global Radio. He loves a limoncello.
