After attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, Carl Marino served 17 years as a Deputy Sheriff in upstate New York.  He “fell” into the acting world after later moving to California, making his television debut on the NBC primetime show Trauma.

Gemma Hoskins is a retired teacher from the Baltimore area who dedicated her retirement to solving two area cold cases: the murders of Cathy Cesnik and Joyce Malecki. Kimberlie Massnick, PhD is a criminologist who specializes in sexual offenders and serial killers. Toney C. Armstrong is the most famous homicide investigator in Memphis history.

He and his team were featured on A&E’s popular series The First 48 as they worked over 400 murders. They cracked some of the city’s most notorious murders, including the Lester Street case, where six people, including two children, were murdered in a house. With the case hanging on the balance, Armstrong himself extracted a confession from the stone-cold killer.

As one of the stars of The First 48, Armstrong swiftly rose through department’s ranks and at the age of 44 became the youngest Police Director in Memphis PD’s history. After 27 years of service, Armstrong retired in 2016 to become the Director of Security for the world-renowned St. Jude Children’s Hospital System in Memphis. In 1999 Bobby Chacon, an FBI Agent in New York City, was tasked by the FBI Laboratory in Quantico to establish the FBI’s Underwater Search and Evidence Response Team (USERT) Program. Bobby was already the first full time FBI diver in the Bureau’s history, but he then spent several years setting up four regional FBI underwater forensic teams. Along with forensic experts at the FBI Lab, Bobby set up the Programs' protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. He then hand-selected every member of each of the four teams and remained the Senior Team Leader of the FBI’s New York City USERT. He later became the Senior Team Leader for the FBI’s Los Angeles USERT. 

Until his retirement in 2014, Bobby Chacon had trained every single forensic diver in the FBI and even trained members of the US Navy in underwater evidence collection, as well as police departments around the world.

John H. White, Ph.D. is a former investigator sergeant in the Internal Affairs Division of the Dallas Police Department.  He investigated numerous police officer shootings and was assigned to the Psychological Services Office and the Fugitive and Special Investigations Unit.

White is currently a Professor of Psychology at Stockton University in Pomona, New Jersey, where he developed the university’s forensic psychology tracks for both the criminal justice and psychology programs. Tonya Rider has over 26 years of experience as a detective working for the Toledo Police Department (TPD), most recently in the Crimes against Persons/Homicide unit. During her career, she received a Meritorious Service Medal for her work on a high profile cold case homicide investigation. The case involved the murder of a Catholic nun by Father Gerald Robinson, who was convicted of killing her in 2006.

In addition to her work as a homicide detective, Tonya's passion to help others took her to TPD's Sexual Assault Unit where she successfully obtained hundreds of sexual assault convictions, including more than three Federal Internet Crimes Against Children’s (ICAC) convictions while working in conjunction with the United States Secret Service.  Since 2009, she has served as a Consultant to the State of Ohio Attorney General on Sexual Assault Investigations. She retired from the Toledo Police Department in 2016, and is currently a full-time Instructor at Bowling Green State University in the Forensic Investigations Program.

Francey Hakes was the country’s first National Coordinator for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction, a post appointed by the U.S. Attorney General. Prior to that appointment, Hakes was a prosecutor for more than 15 years, serving first as an Assistant District Attorney specializing in crimes against children and then as an Assistant U.S. Attorney specializing in technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation.

An investigator with a national reputation for excellence, Steve Spingola has been on Kelly Siegler’s team for the last few seasons. Now retired, Steve served as a Lieutenant Detective of the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD), supervising all major categories of criminal investigations, including stints in the Homicide Unit, Vice Control Division, Sensitive Crimes Unit, and Violent Crimes Division. He further served as the lead investigator for the Critical Incident Unit, a group that probes police related shootings, use-of-force incidents, and other significant events. 

As a detective, Steve spent several years conducting death investigations for a homicide unit with one of the highest clearance rates in the country. He was heavily involved in the high-profile case of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. William F. Thomas's sister Cathleen was the first victim of the "Colonial Parkway Killer." Cathleen, just 27 at the time of her death, was one of at least eight victims believed to have been murdered by a Virginia-area serial killer in the late 1980s. No arrests have ever been made in the case. 

Bill is an advocate for families of the victims as well as an entertainment industry executive who has worked in leadership roles for artist advocacy organizations, including SAG-AFTRA, ASCAP. He lives in Los Angeles, California.

Johnny Bonds is a retired homicide detective from Houston, Texas, who has been working on “Cold Justice” since the beginning. He started his career in Law Enforcement in 1967, and became the youngest detective promoted to the Homicide Division at the age of 25. After eight years in Homicide, he worked in other distinguished divisions including Fugitive Detail, Internal Affairs and SWAT. His defining case was solving the gruesome triple homicide of the Wanstrath family in 1979, and he became coined "The Cop Who Wouldn’t Quit.”

Johnny attempted to take an early retirement, but quickly realized that the only thing he’s really good at is being a cop. He came back and began working for the District Attorney’s office as one of their Investigators where he met Kelly in 1989. He became her primary investigator and they worked closely together in the Special Crimes unit. In his 41 years in law enforcement, Johnny has spent the majority of his career working on homicide cases and has handled over 1,000 homicides and spoken to hundreds of killers. His specialty is interrogations and he has a keen sense of getting people to talk.

Steven David Lampley spent twenty-one years as a police officer and undercover sex crimes SVU detective. He was the arresting officer of The Clairemont Killer (Cleophus Prince Jr.), a case featured on America's Most Wanted.

Prior to Steven's career as a police officer, he was friends with Jeffrey Dahmer just as Dahmer was beginning his murderous and cannibalistic lifestyle.

Steven has written several books, including How to Catch a Liar and Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer. He has received multiple awards for Police Officer of the Year, as well as numerous departmental and civilian commendations. He now spends his time writing, acting, and speaking to schools, police academies, and others on topics ranging from forensics to deception to serial killers.

Maureen O'Connell comes from a family of Chicago Police officers and Fire Department personnel, dating back almost 100 years. In her direct family alone, there is over 200 years of public service.

She was a Special Agent with the FBI for 25 years, specializing in forensics, gangs, and cartel-level narcotics. During her tenure, she worked Major Narcotics, Violent Street Gangs and as a Forensic Investigator/Team Leader with the FBI's Evidence Response Team (ERT).

Maureen was the FBI Case Agent on a team of seasoned Los Angeles County Gang Detectives, on the largest gang take down in U.S. history. This take down was responsible for the largest RICO indictment to date.

Billy Jensen is an investigative journalist focused squarely on unsolved murders and missing persons. After being sick and tired of writing stories with no endings, he developed a system to help solve murders himself, merging geotargeted social media campaigns with shoeleather reporting work. He is now called upon as a consulting detective by police departments when all other avenues have been exhausted. A friend of Michelle McNamara’s, Jensen helped finish her book on the Golden State Killer, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, along with McNamara’s researcher and husband. During the day, he is an investigator and senior producer at on the Warner Bros. show Crime Watch Daily.

Natalie Schilling is a Professor of Linguistics at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She is internationally recognized for her research on language variation and change. She regularly teaches Sociolinguistics (language and society) and Forensic Linguistics and has given more than 100 presentations at U.S. and international academic conferences, university academic departments, and forensic linguistics training workshops on the scientific analysis of language evidence. Her audiences have ranged from the FBI (NCAVC, BAU-1) to incarcerated persons in maximum security prison. She has served as a forensic linguistics expert in cases ranging form authorship attribution to speaker profiling. 

Natalie has been played on TV twice--once in Criminal Minds (the character Alex Blake was partly based on Natalie) and once in the recent Manhunt: Unabomber series, where 'Natalie Rogers' was based on the real Natalie.

Paul Haynes worked closely with Michelle McNamara as her researcher and investigative partner on I'll Be Gone in the Dark. The two connected in 2011 over their shared obsession with the Golden State Killer case, leading to Michelle's feature on the case for Los Angeles magazine followed closely by the sale of I'll Be Gone in the Dark to HarperCollins. Following her death, Paul convened with Michelle's husband, Patton Oswalt, and investigative journalist Billy Jensen, Michelle's friend, to finish the book. 

Originally from South Florida, Paul studied film and television at Florida Atlantic University and was a film reviewer and video editor before entering the true crime sphere.
