The Crime Writers' Association
The Crime Writers’ Association was founded in 1953 by John Creasey. Its aim is to support, promote and celebrate this most durable, adaptable and successful of genres, and to support every kind of crime writer of both fiction and non-fiction and to promote their work.
The CWA is a thriving, growing community and a broad church. Its membership encompasses writers of all kinds of ‘crime’ – embracing procedural, psychological, all types of thriller, cosy, noir and even supernatural and fantasy cross-over. Writers of all crime-related non-fiction, including true crime, are welcomed too. Authors are of all ages and at all stages of their careers,from young debuts to established veterans, and while the CWA is UK-based, it attracts many members from overseas.
In addition to authors, the CWA has associate and corporate members drawn from literary agents, publishers, reviewers, bloggers and editors who specialise in crime fiction and non-fiction. The CWA also runs the Crime Readers’ Association.
Inside Justice
Inside Justice is a charity dedicated to investigating wrongful convictions, using investigators and world-leading forensic and legal experts to find the truth. For those wrongly convicted we are often their last hope for justice to be met. Inside Justice is supported by an Advisory Panel who donate hundreds of hours of pro bono expertise. We rely heavily on charitable donations to continue our critical work. The charity has featured in a number of popular television shows including the BBC's 'Conviction' series (produced by Raw Television) which followed the team as they investigated a murder case. Miscarriages of justice wreck the lives of the innocent, their family and friends and also mean a dangerous criminal is free to strike again. Alpha Canine Specialists is a bespoke highly motivated organisation who have husband and wife team Chris and Ruth Bond at its heart. Chris has 30 years of experience in the canine world and started with MWD in the British Army in the 80’s and throughout the years continued in different sectors. Chris spent 15 years as a volunteer with UK LandSar as a dog handler and search manager where he worked on many missing person searches some turning into murder enquiries from Daniel Nolan in Hampshire to the domestic related incident of a mother of two from Suffolk. Chris was also involved in high-profile cases across East Anglia. Ruth has joined the canine world in the last ten years and has stamped her presence with her Drug Detection Dog Stanley. She has taken a leading role in many Drugs operations lead by the Metropolitan Police to disrupt local drug dealers.
