Blood is Thicker; when the mentally ill kill family

Dr Das, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, will dissect two of the most horrific cases he has assessed in his 15-year career. Both involve perpetrators with diagnoses of mental illness who killed their own family members. He will reveal what he elicited during his assessments and the evidence he gave as an expert witness for the criminal court. This includes whether they were fit to plead or met the criteria for Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, and whether they should be sent to prison, or transferred to a forensic psychiatric unit under the Mental Health Act.
