Survivors with Denise Welch (45 mins)
Bethany Marchant, Survivor. At the age of 24 years old, her abusive partner Stefan Carr put a noose around her neck and tried to hang her from a door in a three-hour torture session.
Sammy Woodhouse, Survivor. At only 14 Sammy became the victim of the craven attentions of the ringleaders of the Rotherham child abuse scandal.
Both women feature in the Crime+Investigation hit series, Survivors with Denise Welch, broadcast in April this year, and in this session will talk to Denise about how they not only survived their terrifying ordeals but are determined to help others avoid a similar fate. The session also features crime author and ex-Metropolitan Police Detective Inspector, Neil Lancaster.

Demo Dogs: DRUG DETECTION DOGS
This demonstration will show the types of searches that our Specialist Drugs Dogs carry out in support of the Police teams we work with. The two will show DDD Stanley carrying out Passive scanning of a group of volunteers and then DDD Nell will proactively search an area where a firearm has been concealed. The two searches show the different disciplines that the dogs are taught and use when on operations. The types of dogs shown here today are typical of the breeds used across the world by Police, Military and other Government Agencies.

Dr Das, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, will dissect two of the most horrific cases he has assessed in his 15-year career. Both involve perpetrators with diagnoses of mental illness who killed their own family members. He will reveal what he elicited during his assessments and the evidence he gave as an expert witness for the criminal court. This includes whether they were fit to plead or met the criteria for Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, and whether they should be sent to prison, or transferred to a forensic psychiatric unit under the Mental Health Act.
